Game On 2010 is Mozilla Labs’ first international gaming competition. Game On is all about games built, delivered and played on the open Web and the browser.
Developers of all experience levels are invited to participate in creating awesome games for the open Web. The contest begins now and runs through January 11, 2011. The grand prize is a trip for two to GDC!

IBM is running a programming contest for university students, and it is also open to high school students. In fact, the overall winner of this contest in 2007 was a high school junior!
The contest is called Master the Mainframe and it begins on Monday, October 4. Prizes include:
- Apple iPads
- $100 pre-paid debit cards
- Trips to the mainframe lab in Poughkeepsie, NY
- Custom Master the Mainframe T-shirts
If you are interested in competing, register here. On the form, put your school as “Galileo Academy of Science & Technology” and professor as “Ben Chun”. When you enter, you will be able to log in to an IBM mainframe system from home (or school) to work on the contest.

The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing honors young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. Awardees are selected for their computing and IT aptitude, leadership ability, academic history, and plans for post-secondary education.
Galileo student Carol Wang won this award last year as a junior, and we encourage any interested AOIT students to apply this year. More details on the NCWIT web site.
