Parents & Guardians must provide written documentation of absences to the Attendance/Deans Office (Room 262). Please refer to the Attendance Guidelines section of the SFUSD Student & Parent/Guardian Handbook for District Policies and Guidelines and California Rules and Regulations.
EXCUSED ABSENCES WILL BE POSTED ON SCHOOL LOOP 24 – 48 HOURS AFTER RECEIPT

Excuse Notes can be written in English, Chinese, or Spanish.
Notes MUST be written in INK (notes in pencil cannot be accepted).
Excuse Notes must contain the following information:
- Student’s First & Last Name
- Date of Absence & Classes missed
- Reason for absence (only legally excusable reasons will be accepted)
- Parent Signature
- Student Grade
- Parent Contact Phone Number
Students can drop off Excuse Notes in the box in the Attendance Office (Room 262) before school, at lunch, and after school. Students should NOT miss class to drop off notes and do NOT need a re-admit to re-enter class.
