SUMMERFUNd is inundated with summer program information. Please tell your students about the benefits of SUMMERFUNd and encourage them to fill out the 2013-2014 purple interest form that can be found in the plastic folder beside the door to 458A. The office is open Tuesday and Friday afternoons…and most evenings… Knowledgeable SUMMERFUNders and Ms. K. will help find students programs and shepherd them through the application and scholarship (if applicable) processes. There are wilderness programs, writing programs, science programs, language programs, community service programs, research programs, art programs (and more!)! SUMMERFUNders have had life changing experiences!

Note the change of date from March 12, 2014 to Feb. 26. If you have not done so, please submit your applications ASAP (latest is Feb. 19) for consideration

ASB STORE in Room 150 is selling healthy snacks, beverages, sweatshirts, new drawstring day packs, hand towels, lanyards, bookcovers, pens, pennants, mugs, and other spirit items during lunch time and after school. Money helps to pay for our school activities.
ASB STORE is selling ASB card stickers @ $5.00. Discounts are given for dances, sweatshirts, yearbook, and other spirit items.

THE BOAT DANCE is Saturday night, March 15 from 7 – 11 PM. Theme is “Dancing On Water.” Dress is semi-formal. Must board at 7 PM at Pier 41. Must show ID at the door. Photography by Prestige. Valentine special – 2 tickets for $50 sold at ASB store starting Feb. 12 to 14. Tickets will increase $30 with current ASB card sticker and $35 w/o from Feb. 18 – 28. Guest ticket is $45 sold at the Dean’s office. Prices will continue to go up in March. Sign up to run for Queen and King of the Sea.
TEACHER AND STAFF OF THE YEAR: Nomination slips will be distributed on Wed/Thurs, Feb. 26/27 during HR. Final election will be held on Wed., March 19 during HR. Winners will be announced at the ASB Election Assembly on Fri., April 11.
ASB & CLASS ELECTIONS: Do you wish to run for 2014 – 2015 ASB or class office? You can pick up petitions at the ASB office, room 150. Deadline to turn in petitions is Monday, March 24 by 4:00 PM to ASB office.. ASB Election Assembly is April 11. ASB election is Wed., April 16 during HR.

and camping with Outward Bound? Do you want to learn about medicine? The application for the Stanford Medical Youth Science Program must be
postmarked by Saturday, February 15 . What about a writing course at Carleton College, Smith College, Lake Forest College or Denison University? Come learn about opportunities Tuesday and Friday afternoons at SUMMERFUND
in Room 458A.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP CORPS is a an environmental, outdoor program that offers and 14 day summer outdoor trip and then meets monthly during the school year beginning next September. It’s FREE! The deadline to apply is Saturday, February 15. Find out more at SUMMERFUNd in Room 458A on Tuesday and Friday afternoons.
COSMOS, the science and math 4-week summer program on UC campuses, offers full scholarships to low-income students. It’s a great way to experience college life and learn in depth about a subject of interest. Course choices include: nanochemistry; earthquake engineering; number theory; oceanography; astrophysics; music and technology; biodiesel from renewable resources; video game design; tissue engineering and regenerative medicine; genes, genomes and biocontrol and big bang theory and the subatomic world. There are fun field trips, too!
The online application is due Friday, February 21. Two short online teacher recommendations are required as well as the student’s online application. SUMMERFUNd has helped dozens of students with their applications. Stop by Tuesday and Friday afternoons in Room 458A.
