WELLNESS: Would you like support with brainstorming interventions for students who who might be sleeping, disruptive or struggling in your classes? Wellness has two manuals, the BRIM and the PIM, that categorize different kinds of students behaviors and ways that teachers and staff can productively intervene. If you would like any support with using this resource please come to Wellness and speak with Jessica, Naomi or Nurse Kitchell.
SUMMER SCHOOL APPLICATIONS: Summer School Applications are available now. Check the WAD for directions. You must apply on Ed-Join. See Bettie Grinnell if you have questions of problems.
SUMMERFUNd is inundated with summer program information. Please tell your students about the benefits of SUMMERFUNd and encourage them to fill out the 2013-2014 purple interest form that can be found in the plastic folder beside the door to 458A. The office is open Tuesday and Friday afternoons…and most evenings… Knowledgeable SUMMERFUNders and Ms. K. will help find students programs and shepherd them through the application and scholarship (if applicable) processes. There are wilderness programs, writing programs, science programs, language programs, community service programs, research programs, art programs (and more!)! SUMMERFUNders have had life changing experiences!

GALILEO YEARBOOK: Deadline to Purchase and Edit your Yearbook: March 17
To purchase your yearbook login to your Galileoweb email and click any link from Treering (the yearbook website). Follow the directions to sign up and purchase your yearbook. You may use a credit card or check. See Ms. Field in Rm 453 or Ms. Ly in Rm 414 if you need help with your Galileoweb password or have trouble ordering. When you are done editing your custom pages, be sure to set your pages to “print ready” so they get printed. Code is: 1013603647311717.
Are you interested in psychology or ever thought about being a therapist or social worker? RAMS is looking for students ages 16-20 to participate in their Summer Bridge Program. Summer Bridge is a 8 week mentorship program where students will learn about the field of psychology/social work. They will attend field trips, participate in workshops & groups and will be paid stipend of about $500 at the end of the program. Come to Wellness to get an application!
TRAVEL 2000 miles to the University of New Hampshire to join Project SMART! There are scholarships. This is a hands on opportunity to study either Marine and Environmental Science or Space Science or Biotechnology and Nanotechnology. Are you interested in exploring current global issues and learning Spanish or French? Do you want to make new friends? Live on a college campus? Find out what it’s like to live in a small town? Discover Minnesota? SUMMERFUNd will help you with your application to the 3-week Language and Global Issues Summer Institute at Carleton College. The scholarship deadline is Thursday, March 27. Are you curious about the ocean? What kinds of life are BELOW the ocean floor? Here’s an opportunity to spend one week on Catalina Island, California as a marine scientist. This program is FREE and includes airfare! If you are in 9th or 10th grade you can apply at SUMMERFUNd in Room 458A on Tuesday and Friday afternoons.
DOCTORS, NURSES, DENTISTS…OH MY! Calling 10th graders who are interested in these and other healthcare careers. SUMMERFUNd now has applications for PITCH, a FREE 3 week program at UCSF, Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 25. The application is due Monday, March 17.
