Galileo is…Above the Influence on Monday, April 21st. Check your email for a link to sign up for presentations about substance use prevention. We have 20+ available workshops during the day, as well as a courtyard carnival at lunch with lots of games to educate students about drugs, drinking, and their safety- including info about having a safe Prom.
SUMMER SCHOOL APPLICATIONS: Summer School Applications are available now. Check the WAD for directions. You must apply on Ed-Join. See Bettie Grinnell if you have questions of problems.
SUMMERFUND is about opportunity, exposure and access for Galileo students.
Please encourage students to find out about the many summer programs that are still available. SUMMERFUND has information about the San Francisco Osaka Sister City student ambassador program (alums Judy Zhu and Tracy Pa were high school participants), FACES for the FUTURE summer medical academy, Visions community service programs, outdoor leadership experiences, writing programs and the local psychology program, Summer Bridge. Deadlines vary but they are approaching. SUMMERFUND is open on Tuesday and Friday afternoons, Room 458A.

PARKING COURTESY: Please do not block other cars in both the Bay Street and the Polk Street parking lots. If you have to block a car, do it only for a few minutes and leave your Galileo Parking Hanger in plain sight in your car. ASB STORE in Room 150 is selling healthy snacks, beverages, sweatshirts, new drawstring day packs, hand towels, lanyards, book covers, pens, pennants, mugs, and other spirit items during lunch time and after school. Money helps to pay for our school activities.
ASB STORE is selling ASB card stickers @ $5.00. Discounts are given for dances, sweatshirts, yearbook, and other spirit items.
GRADUATION SPEAKERS NEEDED: Attention Seniors: Would you like to speak at the Graduation Ceremony? Auditions for graduation speakers will be held Thursday, May 1st during fourth period in room 210. If you are interested in auditioning, please see Mr. Emmi in the Dean’s Office to sign up for a time slot. You must check in with Mr. Emmi prior to May 1st in order to participate.
MOVE-UP AND AWARDS ASSEMBLY:is Friday, May 2 during a double period 4.
ALOHA FOOD FESTIVAL: is Friday, May 2 during lunch time. Wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt or attire.
RECYCLING ELECTRONICS FUNDRAISER: for freshmen class is Saturday, May 3 in the parking lot next to the football field from 10 AM to 2 PM.
MOVE-UP DANCE: & Party is Friday night, May 9 in the cafeteria from 6 PM to 10 PM. Tickets will be sold at the ASB store. Seniors will get a free slice of pizza, cake, & drink to celebrate their graduation.
HIGH SCHOOL DRAGON BOAT RACE: is Saturday, April 26 at Lake Merced. It’s free. Come anytime from 9 AM to 3 PM.
CAPS & GOWNS: will delivered in the auditorium on Thursday, May 22 from 10 AM to 12 PM.
GRADUATION: is Wednesday, May 28 at Bill Graham’s Auditorium at 1 PM.

Are you looking for a job or summer internship? Lots of applications are up on the Wellness Center’s website,galileoweb.org/wellness and click on “Programs and Internships”. There are applications Oasis for Girls, Project WHAT!, jobs for high school students, and more.
9th, 10th and 11th graders…Are you interested in taking a three week trip to Japan? You’ll fly for FREE and then live with a host family in Osaka, Japan. Two Galileo students have already done this. How? They filled out an application, participated in an interview and then were selected to represent San Francisco as student ambassadors. To prepare your application, see Ms. Kornblith at SUMMERFUND in room 458A on Tuesday or Friday afternoon. The application deadline is Monday, April 21.
Interested in healthcare? SUMMERFUND has applications for two local programs, open to all grades. FACES is a two week commuter program at Samuel Merritt U. in Oakland. The deadline is Friday, May 9 but do not wait. Students are being accepted NOW.
The four-day Youth Leadership Conference on Asian-Pacific Islander Health at Stanford University gives students an opportunity to learn especially about hepatitis B and liver disease.
Besides health information, students from all over the world will work together to develop ways to educate communities and fight the disparities in healthcare delivery. SUMMERFUND has the information you’ll need. The office is open on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. 458A. Application deadline has been extended to Friday, May 2.
