***Universal Precautions and Asthma Management/Emergency Information 2014-2015

In the WAD from this week that I emailed to all of you is information on the Universal Precautions and Asthma Management.  I also have the information along with the roster in the Main Office.  The district requires that you read the information and sign the roster indicating that you have read it.  Please stop by the Main Office by January 15, 2015 to sign the roster.     Mrs. Grinnell


One Warm Coat Drive

It’s cold outside!  Please join Galileo High School in the effort to provide One Warm Coat for those in need by donating a clean, gently worn or new coat this season.  Collection bins are located by the main office (room 207), counseling office (room 258)  and JROTC (room 157).  The bins will be there until December 19, 2014.  If you have any questions, please contact Tyler Wong at 415.735.3002.  Thank you for your generosity and support!


ASB STORE is selling sweatshirts, lanyards, towels, beverages, and healthy snacks in room 150 during lunch time and after school.


ASB CARD STICKERS are sold in room 150 @ $5.00. You will get a free Galileo purple pen and planner. Limited supplies.

SENIORS: Order your cap and gown, senior ring and graduation announcements at school on December 9 and 10 during lunch in the main office lobby. Orders may also be placed online at www.jostens.com .


All you have to do to get your yearbook is to:

Step1-Sign in to your galileoweb email.

Step 2-Go to search and type in “Tree ring”.

Step 3-Open up the most recent  “Tree ring” email and click the link to create an account.

For 9th  10th 11th & 12th:

Many college admission counselors are visiting Galileo, please come meet them:

12/10 @ Lunch time RM 154         Aviation Institute of Maintenance This is a FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) approved technical program that gives students the training to become certified aircraft mechanics. The entire program is 20 months long and is located at the Oakland Airport. Day and night classes with a Career Services.

12/17 @ 5:30pm Cafeteria             Financial Aid Workshop for all grade level parents & students.  It will be in Cantonese, English, and Spanish translation.

The California Academy of Sciences is recruiting Teen Advocates for Science Communication.  This is a youth volunteer opportunity to learn about science and the natural world, engage with the Academy’s scientists and staff, and provide educational activities for the Academy’s visitors.  Volunteer time is after school or on the weekends.  Application deadline is 1/4/15.  For more details, check your School Loop email.

The Google Code-in is a contest to introduce pre-university students (ages 13-17) to the many kinds of contributions that make open source software development possible. The contest runs from December 1, 2014 to January 19, 2015.


For 10th  11th & 12th:

All female students: especially seniors, interest in engineering, orthopaedic surgery and/or medicine?  If so, please check out the Perry Outreach Program.  This is a one day event at UCSF.  Application deadline is 12/17.  For more info. please go to the SummerFund office in room 458 or the College & Career Center or check your School Loop email.

If you’re interested in joining the 2015 Historical Black College & University Tour, it’s during the spring break and the cost is $1500 per student including everything.  For more details, please check your School Loop mail or ask Ms. Tachelle in the 2nd floor computer lab.

For 11th & 12th:

Children’s Hospital Oakland Institute, the Research Center is seeking ethnic minority juniors or seniors for the Clinical Research Experience.  Accepted students will also receive a stipend of $2,500.  Application deadline is 1/12/15.  Please pick up an application form from the College & Career Center if you’re interested in applying.

Are you interested in earning 15 credits for taking an architecture class and or internship?  For details, check School Loop email.

Turn in uAspire consent form ASAP!!!

-All students must turn in the consent form even if you are not interested in working with a uAspire financial aid adviser

-Turn in signed consent forms to the College and Career Center either to Michael or Ms. S. Chan
