PARKING COURTESY:  Please do not block other cars in both the Bay Street and the Polk Street parking lots.  If you have to block a car, do it only for a few minutes and leave your Galileo Parking Hanger in plain sight in your car.  If you do not have a Galileo Parking Hanger, see Bettie Grinnell in the Main Office.                                       Mrs. Grinnell

 

***Universal Precautions and Asthma Management/Emergency Information 2014-2015

In the WAD from this week that I emailed to all of you is information on the Universal Precautions and Asthma Management.  I also have the information along with the roster in the Main Office.  The district requires that you read the information and sign the roster indicating that you have read it.  Please stop by the Main Office by January 15, 2015 to sign the roster.     Mrs. Grinnell

ASB STORE is selling sweatshirts, lanyards, towels, beverages, and healthy snacks in room 150 during lunch time and after school.

 

ASB CARD STICKERS are sold in room 150 @ $5.00. You will get a free Galileo purple pen and planner. Limited supplies.

SENIORS: Order your cap and gown, senior ring and graduation announcements online at www.jostens.com.

 

EXECUTIVE STUDENT COUNCIL: will meet on Monday, Jan. 12 in room 153 at 3:15 PM to discuss the Multicultural Celebration Community Event on Feb. 5.

 

PEP RALLY AND CLASS OF THE YEAR COMPETITION: Snowball Paper Fight, on Friday, January 16 in the courtyard during lunch time.

All you have to do to get your yearbook is to:

Step1-Sign in to your galileoweb email.

Step 2-Go to search and type in “Tree ring”.

Step 3-Open up the most recent  “Tree ring” email and click the link to create an account.

GALILEO ACADEMY COLLEGE & CAREER ANNOUNCEMENTS:

For 9th  10th 11th & 12th:

1/8 @ 11:45am RM 154      SF Mimi Troupe is offering PAID Internships for Theater Production & Performance.  No previous experience is required. Spaces are limited. You will receive $10.00 a class; Food is

offered at every class.  Application deadline is 1/23/15.  Check School Loop for application and details.

TeenTechSF@TechShop: START OFF 2015 BY MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE! Join the Maker Movement on Jan 10-11 at the first teen civic hackathon at TechShop SF. No experience necessary. Only 40 spaces available. The cost is $55 per person.  https://teenstechchange.splashthat.com/

The California Academy of Sciences is recruiting Teen Advocates for Science Communication.  This is a youth volunteer opportunity to learn about science and the natural world, engage with the Academy’s scientists and staff, and provide educational activities for the Academy’s visitors.  Volunteer time is after school or on the weekends.  Application deadline is 1/4/15.  For more details, check your School Loop email.

The Google Code-in is a contest to introduce pre-university students (ages 13-17) to the many kinds of contributions that make open source software development possible. The contest runs from December 1, 2014 to January 19, 2015.

 

For 10th  11th & 12th:

If you’re interested in joining the 2015 Historical Black College & University Tour, it’s during the spring break and the cost is $1500 per student including everything.  For more details, please check your School Loop mail or ask Ms. Tachelle in the 2nd floor computer lab.

If you’re interested in getting a part time job or volunteering, check out the Employment & Volunteer Bulletin on the College & Career website or the bulletin board in the Counseling Center.

 

For 11th & 12th:

Children’s Hospital Oakland Institute, the Research Center is seeking ethnic minority juniors or seniors for the Clinical Research Experience.  Accepted students will also receive a stipend of $2,500.  Application deadline is 1/12/15.  Please pick up an application form from the College & Career Center if you’re interested in applying.

Are you interested in earning 15 credits for taking an architecture class and or internship?  For details, check School Loop email.

1/8 @ 2:30pm RM 555        College Application Process Part II Presentation If you are in Mr. Papa’s, Mr. Jung’s, or Mr. Lynch’s social studies class, please attend this important presentation to learn about what else you need to do for your college application and financial aid information.
