Skyline College offers a FREE 2 week (6/22-7/1 Mon. to Thur. 9am-12pm) “Introduction to Automotive Careers” class for high school students.  You will learn about opportunities in motorsports, marketing, PR, small business, teaching and more.  Please see Ms. S. 7/27 @ 7pm-8:30pm @ Santa Clara Convention Center         Colleges that Change Lives Fair  There are about 40 small private colleges in this group.  They offer this free college fair.  They provide student centered education.  Check them out: CTCL.org

PAGE for Teens is a non-profit dedicated to helping high school students plan for their careers and futures. They coordinate shadow sessions where teens go to a professional’s workplace and get Professional Advice, Guidance, and Exposure (PAGE) about different careers, and also have the great experience of seeing what it is like to be in a cool work environment.  For details or to sign up: https://www.pageforteens.org/

Summer programs are highly valued by college.  If you’re interested in applying for fun and educational summer programs, please check out the list posted on the wall outside of room 255, or on School Loop, or the list on the College & Career website or see Ms. K. in room 458A on Tues. & Fri. afternoon.

For 11th:

Wellesley College is a competitive and worldly known private small independent college for women and it’s located in Massachusetts.  The fly-in program (10/18-10/19) application requires a copy of the unofficial transcript and one short answer question.  You may ask either Mr. Barbour, Mrs. Marshman, Mr. Zhen, or Ms. S. Chan for an electronic copy of your transcript before the school year ends.  The priority application deadline is 6/30.  The final application deadline is 8/31.  Due to the competitive nation of this application, we strongly recommend that you apply by the priority deadline: https://www.wellesley.edu/admission/falltravelgrant

Harvey Mudd College is a well-known for engineering and science with a strong liberal arts background.  It will be hosting an annual Fall Future Achievers in Science & Technology (FAST) from 10/8-10/10.  All costs will be covered.  This is open to female students, underrepresented minorities, first-generation to college students and student from disadvantaged backgrounds.  The application deadline is 8/24/15.  An electronic copy of your transcript is required, so please ask either Ms. Marshman, Mr. Zhen, Mr. Barbour, or Ms. S. Chan for an electronic copy.  You will also need to include your resume and answer a short answer question.  Ms. S. Smith College is one of the top liberal arts college for woman.  It’s located in Massachusetts.  It has a great network system with the nearby colleges.  Their fly-in dates are from 10/16-10/18 in the fall.  Application form will be available on 8/1 and the application deadline is 9/16.  Please check out the info. in the summer and apply.  If you have any questions about the application, ask counselors in early fall. https://www.smith.edu/admission/wod/

Davidson College a highly-selective liberal arts college (with NCAA Division I) in Charlotte, North Carolina in the town of Davidson.  It has close to 2,000 students and it’s first debt-free liberal arts college in the country.  This fly-in includes all expenses and it’s from 11/1-11/3.  The application is due by 9/18.  Part of the application includes a high school transcript, standardized test scores, and a short answer questions.  You will also receive an application fee waiver from Davidson.      https://admission.davidson.edu/register/mvp

Odenza Vacations Scholarship for $500: Must be between 17 and 24 on 9/1/2015, 2.5 minimum GPA, Resident of U.S. or Canada, Submit answer to essay question.  Apply by 6/1/2015.  https://www.odenzavacationsscholarships.com/

Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium Scholarship for $1,000: Be a graduating high school senior or have graduated from high school within the last 2 years, Be enrolled in a college level program, university or an accredited automotive technical program by the September of the year you are applying, Priority given to those pursuing a career in automotive aftermarket.  Apply by 6/15/2015.

BBG Communications Scholarship for $1000: Between 16 and 17 on June 30, 2015, Submit answers to 2 essay questions, Have at least one full year of post-secondary studies remaining at the time of award, 2.5 minimum GPA, U.S. or Canadian citizen . The Chinese Acacia Club (CAC) for $1,000: Acceptance to a college or university, 3.8 minimum GPA, Submit complete senior year transcripts, 2 letters of recommendation from faculty member or counselor, California resident.  Apply by 7/1/2015.

George Geng On Lee Scholarship for $1,000: Minority students, Financial need, U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.  Apply by Mid-July.
