PARKING COURTESY:  Please do not block other cars in both the Bay Street and the Polk Street parking lots.  If you have to block a car, do it only for a few minutes and leave your Galileo Parking Hanger in plain sight in your car.  If you do not have a Galileo Parking Hanger, see Bettie Grinnell in the Main Office.                                       Mrs. Grinnell

ASB STORE is selling sweatshirts, lanyards, towels, beverages, and healthy snacks in room 150 during lunch time and after school.

 

SENIORS: Order your cap and gown, senior ring and graduation announcements online at www.jostens.com.

 

SENIOR BREAKFAST: is Friday, May 22 in the cafeteria at 8:30 AM.

 

CAPS AND GOWNS; will be delivered on Thursday, May 21 in the auditorium at 10:00 AM.

 

GRADUATION: at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Wed., May 27 at 1:00 PM.

For 10th & 11th:

Are you interested in developing your leadership skills and learning about public policy?  Then apply to the Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project.  You can spend 1 week at Sac. State University for the Sacramento Leadership Conference or 3 days in UC Berkeley.  Come get more information at the College & Career Center.  Application deadline is 5/6/15.

For 9th, 10th, & 11th:

5/9 8:30am-12pm @ Galileo Academy     TeenTechSF@ Galileo “Diversity Fuels Innovation”    Free event for HS & MS students, parents, teachers, mentors, and counselors are invited to attend a diversity panel sharing experiences of innovative tech leaders.  This will include hands-on workshops on Coding, Making, Hacking, and more with tech leaders from Google, Genentech, LinkedIn, NASA NOVAS, Plants of the Kids, TechShopSF, and Upward Bound Math & Science.

If you’re 15 years old, interested in veterinary school or working with animals, check out this FREE event with lunch.  Hear talks from veterinarians in various careers, talk to current veterinary students & alumni from different veterinary schools.  Learn about ways to volunteer locally and get valuable experience caring for animals.

PAGE for Teens is a non-profit dedicated to helping high school students plan for their careers and futures. They coordinate shadow sessions where teens go to a professional’s workplace and get Professional Advice, Guidance, and Exposure (PAGE) about different careers, and also have the great experience of seeing what it is like to be in a cool work environment.  For details or to sign up: https://www.pageforteens.org/

If you’re interested in getting a part time job or volunteering or internship, check School Loop, or the posting on the College & Career website or on the bulletin board in the Counseling Center.

Summer programs are highly valued by college.  If you’re interested in applying for fun and educational summer programs, please check out the list posted on the wall outside of room 255, or on School Loop, or the list on the College & Career website or see Ms. K. in room 458A on Tues. & Fri. afternoon.

For 12th:

Please complete the Senior Survey by 5/15.  You have to do this on-line and then come the College & Career Center to get Ms. S. Chan’s signature so she can sign you out.  https://goo.gl/nqIy66

If you have won any scholarship from colleges or organizations, please be sure to make a copy of the award and give it to Michael in the College & Career Center by 5/1/15. This information will be included in the graduation pamphlet.

5/13 2:15pm-3:15pm RM 555         Scholarship & Internship for SFSU          If you plan to attend SFSU, be sure to come to this meeting so that you can apply for potential paid internship and scholarships for SFSU.

If you think you still want to apply for CCSF as an alternate college choice, please check details in School Loop or talk to Ms. S. Chan as soon as possible.

If you have been accepted to a UC and plan to enroll, please look out for the Writing Placement Exam info. in your School Loop email.

If you intend to enroll at a CSU campus, please take the placement exams ASAP.  For the CSU Math and English placement exams schedule, location, and sample questions, please check your School Loop email.

If you want to know how to check your Cal. Grant account, please check School Loop for instructions.

Scholarships you can apply to:

Get Girls Golfing Scholarship ($1,500): Graduating senior, Must of have played high school golf, Attending a 2 or 4 year college as a full time student, Intends to play golf on a college team.  Apply by 5/15/2015. https://www.mygolfinstructor.com/scholarship/

SF Promise Scholarship ($1,000 renewable annually): 2.5 GPA, Completed FAFSA, Attend SFSU, Earn at least 24 units per academic year (which is equivalent to being a full-time student).  Apply by 5/15/2015.  www.sfpromise.sfsu.edu

Please be sure to check the Scholarship List for more scholarships and apply to as many scholarships as you can.  Check out the list on the College & Career website or on School Loop, or the Scholarship bulletin board in the Counseling Center.
