PARKING COURTESY:  Please do not block other cars in both the Bay Street and the Polk Street parking lots.  If you have to block a car, do it only for a few minutes and leave your Galileo Parking Hanger in plain sight in your car.  If you do not have a Galileo Parking Hanger, see Bettie Grinnell in the Main Office.                                       Mrs. Grinnell


WELCOME BACK ASSEMBLY:  The first assembly of the school year, THE WELCOME BACK ASSEMBLY will be this Friday, August 28th during a double 4° in the auditorium.  The bell schedule, assembly assignments (Assembly A or Assembly B) and the seating charts will be available shortly.  They will be posted on the website and on the counter in the Main Office.        Mrs. Grinnell



ASB store in room 150 is selling the popular Galileo planners. Cost is $1.00 with a current ASB card sticker.


ASB store in room 150 is open during lunch time and after school selling Galileo sweatshirts, planners, lanyards, poms poms, mugs, healthy snacks, & beverages. We sell also ASB card stickers @ $5 to be used for discounts for dances, yearbook, and store items.

STUDENT LOCKERS:  Due to the large number of 9th graders for the 2015-16 school year lockers will not be assigned until Monday, August 24, 2015.  9th graders and new transfer students will have priority for lockers.  Lockers will be assigned by homerooms.  Any questions, please call Ms. Robinson in the Deans’ Office.


PICTURE DAYS:  Picture Days for 9th, 10th and 11th graders will be on September 2nd and 3rd.  Classes will be assigned specific times to go to the Auditorium for the pictures.  School ID Cards will follow this activity.


For 9th, 10th:

Are you interested in working part-time and learn proper manner and communication in a work place?  If so, apply for MYEEP.  Application deadline is 9/11.  Submit an online application: www.myeep.org

For 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th:

9/3 @ 5pm-7pm @ the Vietnamese Youth Development Center (VYDC) on 166 Eddy St.: An open house to check out different programs, service, and events provided.  Free appetizers & refreshments.

9/16 @ 5:30pm @ Cafeteria: How to Choose the Most Ideal College Presentation for all grade level parents and students.  It will be presented in Chinese, English and Spanish.

9/19 @ 10-3pm @ Mission High School: U CAN go to College: this is a historically black college & university fair.  For seniors, if you bring HS transcript (bring many copies), SAT/ACT scores (if available), 2 letters of recommendation (if available), Person essay (optional), Resume (bring many copies), you can get on the spot admission decisions.


For 12th:

Many well-known and well respected private colleges offer fly-in programs now.  They will cover transportation cost, room and board for you to visit their campus for 2 to 3 days, so that you can decide if you like the college enough that you will apply there.
