PARKING COURTESY:  Please do not block other cars in both the Bay Street and the Polk Street parking lots.  If you have to block a car, do it only for a few minutes and leave your Galileo Parking Hanger in plain sight in your car.  If you do not have a Galileo Parking Hanger, see Bettie Grinnell in the Main Office.    Mrs. Grinnell

4/2/16 @ 8:30-3:15pm @ UC Davis: Future Day (UC Davis Veterinary School Info.): Do you like science?  Do you love animals?  Do you want to be a veterinarian?  If so, check out this day full of interesting case studies and fun wet labs!  Learn new skills such as suturing, CPR, and reading X-rays!  Registration is FREE and food will be provided!

4/23/16 All day @ the California Academy of Sciences:  Science Game Jam: This is the 2nd annual Science Game Jam over the weekend of 4/23-4/24.  Teens will work in teams to design and complete a digital game around the theme of “Bay Area Food, Water, and Energy.”  Teens will work with Academy scientists and to compete for prizes.  Apply as a team. Do you love to cook?  Do you want to become a chef?  Do you want to learn how to cook?  Become a teen chef at theChinatown YMCA Teen Culinary Academy!  You will learn basic cooking and kitchen management skills.  This is a FREE program from April 6 to early June on Wednesday from 5:30pm-7:30pm (and some Saturdays).  You can even get a stipend when you finish the program.  For more info. or if interested, please contact Noelle Yang: nyang@ymcasf.org or call her at415-576-9622.

The Summer Program List is now available.  Please either check it out on the wall outside of room 255 or via SchoolLoop with the weekly College & Career Center Announcements. Programs that have a cost may provide financial aid for students in need but you should apply for these programs ASAP.

For 10th & 11th:

4/21/16 @2:15pm @ RM 555: The College Application Overview: For College Ambassadors to learn about the entire college application process.  Presented by UCB students.

For 11th & For 12th:

If you have registered for the ACT prep class, your last class is on Wednesday 4/6/16 @ 2:30pm in either room 153 or 154. You can bring snacks and water since the class will last for 2 hours.  Don’t forget to register for the 4/9/16 ACT test!

For 12th:

4/9/16 or 4/16/16 @ 8:45am-5pm @ CCSF’s Ocean Campus: CCSF All-in-One Day: You can take the PLACEMENT TESTING, ORIENTATION, and meet with a

counselor for an EDUCATION PLAN ALL in 1 day to jump start on your Summer and Fall plans at CCSF.  Please arrive 15 minutes early for testing. 4/14/16 @ 2:15pm @ RM 555: Understanding Financial Aid Award Letter & Colleges You can Still Apply to: Seniors, do you want to understand your financial aid award letter?  Did you not get into the college of your top choices?  Do you need to or want to apply for more colleges?  Come to this workshop to get these questions answered.

4/15/16 @ 12:20pm @ RM104: CCSF Prep for FRISCO Day: If you have registered for CCSF for either summer or fall of 2016, please attend this info. Meeting to get you ready for FRISCO Day on 4/29.

4/15/16 @ 1pm-4pm @ RM210: CCSF Individual Counseling Appt: If you took the CCSF placement exam on 2/10/16 but haven’t met with the CCSF counselor to get your placement scores, you need to meet with the counselor on this day.  Appt. reminder slips will be delivered to your class on either 4/14 or 4/15.

4/29/16 FRISCO Day: seniors who will attend a community college, join the workforce or the military, or not sure what to do after graduating from high school will go to CCSF for different transitional workshops.  For seniors who will attend a 4 year college after high school will stay at Galileo for a special assembly and lunch time resource fair in the courtyard.  Stay tuned for more details.


2016 Filipino-American HS Graduating Scholars’ Award: If you are a Filipino-American seniors and have a weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher, please apply for this scholarship.  It’s an easy application and the deadline is May 4, 2016.  Pick up the application either in the College & Career Center or from the Advisor Hub in room 209.

If you have been awarded a scholarship either from a college or a private organization, please let Michael Lau know.  You can either email the information to him at michaell@uaspire.org  or drop it off to him in room 209.

If you need to order an official transcript for college or for scholarship reason, please complete a transcript request form. You can pick up a copy of this form from room 209, the Counseling Center or the College & Career Center.  Please allow at least two days for processing.

Please check out the scholarship posting in the Counseling Center or from School Loop as part of the weekly College & Career Center announcements.  There are quite a few scholarship opportunities for you already.  Don’t miss deadlines!
