AAA VARSITY FOOTBALL
CITY CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
WORD OF THE WEEK: AAA VARSITY FOOTBALL CITY CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2017, AT 1:00PM AT KEZAR STADIUM. GALILEO’S MIGHTY LIONS WILL MEET THE MISSION BEARS IN THIS CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.
The Mighty Galileo Lions Football Team won their first AAA Footbll City Championship Game in 1933 and to date the Mighty Lions have won 17 AAA City Championship Games, the most in city history–1933, 1934, 1938, 1974, 1978, 1981, 1983, 1986. 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2009, 2013.
THE CHAMPIONSHIPS OF 1988, 1989 and 1990 are known as the “3-PEAT” UNDER HEAD COACH GEORGE WHITE, FOR WHOM GALILEO’S FOOTBALL FIELD IS NAMED. COME TO THE GAME AND CHEER OUR MIGHTY LIONS ON TO VICTORY!! GO LIONS!!

PARKING COURTESY: Please do not block other cars in both the Bay Street and the Polk Street parking lots. If you have to block a car, do it only for a few minutes and leave your Galileo Parking Hanger in plain sight in your car. ACCOUNTANT SCHEDULE CHANGE: Galileo’s accountant, Eva, will be at Galileo on Thursdays now, instead of Tuesdays. Her office will remain in Room 206.
COFFEE AND COOKIES: Support Special Education by purchasing a cup of fresh roasted coffee $1.25 and cookies $.25. Available daily 7:45am all year long in either room 214 or 212. (alternating bi-weekly)

TEACHEER LOCATOR: The Current Teacher Locator is ow posted on the Galileo Website. Check the Staff Support Area on the website. This document will be updated daily.
STAFF PHONE DIRECTORY: The current Staff Phone Directory os now posted on the Galileo website in the Staff Support Area. There are 2 versions which you can print out–legal size and letter size. This document will be updated as needed.
TEACHER VOICE MAIL: It is important for parents to contact their students’ teachers. If you have not set up your email, please see me and I can help facilitate this. Itr is important for parents to be able to contact their child’s teachers. It takes 2-3 minutes and we can do it at my desk.
TEACHER EMERGENCY CARDS: Hi All– It ios so important that we have current information on your emergecy card about who to contact in an emergency. With so many new staff this year it has been challenging to reach out to everyone. If I did not give you an emeergency card to complete, please see me. Thanks! Bettie Grinnell
GALILEO GEEK SQUAD: Interested in troubleshooting technology issues? Want to assist with the technology program and procedures during your free time at Galileo? Need IT or Tech experience for college/career? Looking for a fun and easy way to get Media Arts or Computer Science extra credit? JOIN GALILEO’S GEEK SQUAD!!! Geek Squad will spend their free periods being responsible for many of the technology issues that arise throughout the day at Galileo. Geek Squad will work on Chromebooks, MacBooks, PCs, iMacs, audio systems, SmartBoards, technology lab and carts, and miscellaneous tech items. Geek Squad members will receive a letter grade for their TA period as well as a signed letter of recommendation from a technology teacher to use on college and job applications. GALILEO BLACK HOODIE SWEAT SHIRTS: ASB is selling Galileo black hoodie sweatshirts. You can buy them from ASB officers during lunch. Cost is $40.
HOLIDAY DOOR DECORATING CONTEST JUDGING: Thurs., Dec.7.
WINTER ASSEMBLY: Fri., Dec. 8TH during a double 4th period Assembly Schedule.
WRESTLING TEAM: Wrestling practice has officially begun. Anyone interested in joining the wrestling team try to win their 4th All-City Championship in 6 years, please go to the dance studio in Rm. 219 everyday after school. Meritus Scholarship Info. & App. Workshop: 12/6 @ 2:15pm @ RM 104: This is
a generous scholarship for seniors: if you meet the following criteria,
come check it out!
Unweighted GPA between 3.0 – 3.7 (we will consider students slightly
outside of this range)
- Demonstrated Financial Need (majority of our students are on Free/Reduced
- Plan to attend a 4-year University
Cash for College: 12/7 @ 5:30pm @ Cafeteria: Come win a FREE laptop, get
free dinner and complete either FAFSA or Dream Act for college financial
aid. This event is for both seniors and or their parents. Information
will be provided in English, Spanish, and Chinese. If possible, please
bring the following information:
– Social Security number for each family member (If you are undocumented
and not a permanent resident, we can help you complete the CA Dream Act so
that the student can get CA financial aid.)
– 2015 or 2016 federal income tax forms
– Records of untaxed income
– Business, farm, and other real estate records
– W2s and other income forms
uAspire can help you with financial aid related questions. Turn in your
uAspire consent forms to Michael in room 209 to receive financial aid help.

Scholarship bulletin board in the Counseling Center (RM 258).
