Winter Break for the San Francisco Unified School District is from Monday, December 24, 2018 through Friday, January 4, 2019.  School resumes on Monday, January 7, 2019. Enjoy the Break!!

STREET SOCCER

Indoor Soccer Sign Ups!

If students are interested in playing indoor soccer pick up a form in room 119!

Practices will take place on Wednesdays from 5-6PM and will be taught by accredited soccer coaches. Open to all grades and skill levels. Futurama/Jose Carrsco

 

ScriptEd

Futurama in partnership with ScriptEd will be offering a year long twice-a week coding bootcamp for students. Students will learn the basics of computer programming from experts who work in tech. Classes will be Mondays and Tuesdays after school. Come to room 119 for sign ups!  Futurama/Jose Carrasco

Young Women’s Leadership Summit (YWLS): 1/26/19 @ 8:30am-3:30pm @ Stanford University: Stanford Women In Business. “SWIB” is the largest pre-professional organization for female undergraduates on Stanford’s campus, and aims to educate and empower young women to become successful, business-minded leaders.  YWLS aims to introduce students to a variety of business disciplines, and during the day-long conference, attendees will listen to and learn from accomplished women leaders, gain hands-on experience through workshops, and interact with industry professionals, Stanford students, and motivated peers. This year’s featured theme is “The Future,” which educates attendees on the power of business to shape the future and empowers students to influence the next generation of innovation and leadership.  For Q’s, please email: swibsummit2019@gmail.com

National Portfolio Day: 1/12 @ 12pm-4pm @ SFAI Fort Mason Campus @ Pier 2, 2 marina Blvd. SF: This is a free national event for students interested in applying to art college & universities to get direct feedback on their work.  Please bring your portfolio or art pieces to get feedback. College Ambassador Meeting: 1/8 @ lunch time @ RM 263: If you want to get a head start on college preparation or applications, join this group of motivated students.

For 9th & 10th:

Donut Worry, Be Happy: 12/17 @ Lunch time @ RM 209: Come grab a free donut and meet an advisor!

For 12th:

College/ Scholarship Application Workshop: 1/9 & 1/10 @ 2:15pm @ RM 260: Every Wed. & Thur., you’re welcome to come work on any college and or scholarship application forms with us.  We can also talk about any college related questions you may have or need help on. Snacks provided.

uAspire can help you with financial aid related questions now and during college years for free.  Please turn in your consent form to RM 209 ASAP. You can pick up a consent form in the Counseling Center or in RM 209.

 

If you’re interested in applying for scholarships, please check the updated Scholarship List either onhttp://galileoweb.org/college/scholarships/ or on the Scholarship bulletin board in the Counseling Center (RM 258).  It’s also sent via Remind Text when it’s updated.

HOLIDAY BREAKFAST CELEBRATION:  Friday, December 21st,  7:30am,

SCHOOL ACCOUNTANT’S REGULAR DAY FOR 2018 – 2019 SCHOOL YEAR:  The school accountant will come on Thursdays from 8:30am – 3:30pm. She is located in one of the offices in Room 206.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE CONTRIBUTION:  The Social Committee provides breakfast for our days before school, as well as special celebrations throughout the school year, including HALLOWEEN, WINTER BREAK AND VALENTINE’S DAY AND RETIREMENT GIFTS FOR THOSE RETIRING AT THE END OF THE YEAR.  The contribution is $25.00 per year and helps with the costs of these celebrations.  Check or cash is fine. Please see Bettie Grinnell in the Main Office.     Social Committee

PARKING COURTESY:  Please do not block other cars in both the Bay Street and the Polk Street parking lots.  If you have to block a car, do it only for a few minutes and leave your Galileo Parking Hanger in plain sight in your car.  If you do not have a Galileo Parking Hanger, see Bettie Grinnell in the Main Office. ALSO PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO MORE PARKING ON FRANCISCO STREET BY THE FLAG POLE.  CURRENTLY WE HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD NOT TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING ON FRANCISCO STREET AS THIS BREAKS THE LAW OF “NO DRIVING ON SIDEWALKS.”  Further information may be forthcoming.    Mrs. Grinnell

 

COFFEE AND COOKIES: Support Special Education by purchasing a cup of fresh roasted coffee $1.25 and cookies $.25. Available daily 7:45am all year long in either room 214 or 212. (alternating bi-weekly)

STAFF PHONE DIRECTORY:  The current Staff Phone Directory is now posted on Google Docs.  This document will be updated as needed.

 

TEACHER VOICEMAIL:  It is important for parents to contact their students’ teachers.  If you have not set up your email, please see me and I can help facilitate this.  It is important for parents to be able to contact their child’s teachers. It takes 2-3 minutes and we can do it at my desk.
