Summary:

The Youth Programs Assistant/Youth Program Volunteer (YPA/YPV) will act as a support to the Activity Leaders working in the after school program. They will be assisting with general supervision of the participants, lesson planning, facilitation and behavior guidance. They will also be undergoing a professional and personal development track that will benefit them academically, personally and professionally.

Essential Functions:

· Attend weekly YPA/YPV meetings
· Support Activity Leaders in the classroom (run errands, lead activity, prep, clean-up etc..)
· Support the after school program with attendance
· Model positive behavior to participants
· Assist in the discipline process
· Build positive and healthy professional relationships with youth and staff
· Sign-in and Sign-out
· Attend a minimum of 3 Beacon Youth Employment Programs
· Participate in 2 YPA Swap Days
· Lead at least 5 Friday activities with support from the Activity Leaders
· Lead at least 1 class a session with support from the Activity Leader
· Learn the Beacon Way
· Have a 1-on-1 meeting with the college center
· Interact with program participants
· Assist with Set-up/Clean-up of the general program
· Attend 1 homework room from 5pm-5:50pm a week

Knowledge, Skill, Education and Experience:

Necessary

· YPV – Must be in High school YPA – Must be a Junior and 16 years old
· YPA – Must be eligible to get a work permit
· Must be a Beacon High School Member
· Must be available to work at least 3 days a week from 3pm – 6pm
· Ideally available to work every Monday from 5pm – 6pm

Reporting Relationships:

The YPA/YPV reports to the Program Coordinator under the general supervision of the Site Director
