<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 10pt;font-family: Arial">Eligibility</span></strong><span style="font-size: 10pt;font-family: Arial">.  <em><span style="text-decoration: underline">Applicant Eligibility</span></em>: Person being nominated (“Applicant”) must be a legal resident of the 48 contiguous United States or the District of Columbia, who, as of November 6, 2008, is enrolled as full-time student in a state-accredited private or public high school, in good standing in grade 12, and who participates in a high school sport or club sport during the 2008-2009 school year, as determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion.  Applicants cannot be on suspension or other disciplinary program imposed by the school or school system at any time in the 2008-2009 school year. Applicants cannot have been arrested, charged with, or convicted of any crime.  Sponsors may, in their sole discretion, complete a background check of Applicant including civil, financial, driver-history, any drug or alcohol dependency or treatment, criminal arrests or convictions, or law suits – either settled or still pending.  If selected as a potential winner, in order to avail himself/herself of the prize, Applicant must graduate at the end of the regular 2008-2009 school year and be enrolled as a full-time student matriculating at a State accredited college or university, approved by Sponsors, carrying a minimum of 12 credits for the 2009 Fall semester.  Trade and vocational colleges are not eligible. </span></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Stanford Institutes of Medicine Summer Research Program (SIMR) at Stanford University is a summer research program geared towards high school juniors and seniors.  The program was formerly call the CCIS/ITI Summer Intern Program and in the summer of 2008, the program expanded to include the other four Institutes in the School of Medicine (Cancer Biology, Stem Cell Biology, Neuroscience and the Cardiovascular Institute).  Students participate in an intensive 8 week research program that includes hands-on experimentation in some of the world&#8217;s greatest labs.  They also attend many lectures, participate in safety training sessions and attend a field trip. The program ends with a wonderful poster session where Stanford community members can learn about the students&#8217; projects. </p>
<p>A complete application consists of an application form, one letter of recommendation from a science or math teacher, two personal essays, high school transcript and if available, a copy of test scores (SAT/AP exams).  They are accepting up to 50 students.  There is no housing available and students must find their own transportation or living arrangements.  There will be a $1,500 stipend given too all students accepted into the program.</p>
