Expectations: Students are expected to:<o:p></o:p>

1. Fully participate in their learning experience.<o:p></o:p>

                        2.  Come to class on time everyday.<o:p></o:p>

3.  Bring all required materials everyday: 2 composition notebooks (1 for lab and 1 for classwork and homework) and a pen or pencil to write with.<o:p></o:p>

4.  Be respectful of themselves, their fellow students, and their teacher.<o:p></o:p>

Note: As this is an honors course, students will write essays, read science articles, do research and write laboratory reports which go beyond the standard level biology assignments<o:p></o:p>

Week 1-3            Introductions, Measurement, Scientific Method, Basic Biochemistry<o:p></o:p>

Week  4-9            Cells<o:p></o:p>

Week 10-11            Respiration and Photosynthesis<o:p></o:p>

Week 12-16            Genetics<o:p></o:p>

Week 17-18            Genetics Project and Review for Final Exam<o:p></o:p>

Second Semester<o:p></o:p>

Week 19-21            Ecology<o:p></o:p>

Week 22-27            Evolution and Classification of the Six Kingdoms and Major Phyla<o:p></o:p>

Week 28-34    Human Physiology: Overview, Systems: Digestion and Nutrition, Skeletal and Muscular, Endocrine, Nervous, Immune, Reproductive.  Review for Final Exam<o:p></o:p>

Grades®            Your final grades will be composed of the following categories:<o:p></o:p>

 <o:p></o:p>

                        (1) Classwork  (Do Nows, Notes and work sheets)                          25%<o:p></o:p>

                        (2) Labs & Portfolios (Lab Reports, Projects, Note book org)                      25%<o:p></o:p>

(3) Homework                                                                            20%<o:p></o:p>

(4) Tests & Quizzes                                                                                  20%<o:p></o:p>

                        (5) Participation  & Behavior                                                     10%<o:p></o:p>

Scores ®        I must be able to read your work, therefore neatness and effort count. Do your best on spelling and grammar; in general I will not take away any points for these. This is not English class.<o:p></o:p>
