Expectations
To create a pleasant and productive learning and teaching environment for all students and to foster mutual respect for each other, each student will abide by the following rules:
1. To behave courteously and respectfully at all times.
Raise your hand before answering or asking a question.
No disruptive behavior: Calling out, or being disrespectful to the teacher or one another.
2. Remain in your seats at all times during instruction.
Consequences for misbehaviors are as follows:
1st time,warning. 2nd time, call home. 3rd time, referral. More than 3 times, onsite conference with parent and or suspension from class.
3. Arrive in class on time and be prepared with all necessary materials such as your book, binder and writing materials.
(Tardy and unprepared students will lose daily points)
Students are expected to be in their assigned seats when the bell rings!
4. No gum chewing or eating during instruction time.
5. Follow all school rules as stated in the Student Handbook.
Daily Classroom procedures
1. Students will take daily notes and keep an organized on inch binder divided into four sections 1. Vocabulary 2. Notes 3. Class activities 4. Tests (Instructions will be given on how to do this)
A neat and organized binder will help students remain on task and help them achieve a good grade. Binders will be checked regularly,
2. All missed written assignments due to excused absences must be made up in a timely manner.
Oral work cannot be “made up”.
(In certain circumstances extra credit can be earned)
4. Weekly calendars will be kept in the binders by each
student . Calendars will be turned in once a week and will count as the weekly grade. (Instruction will be given regarding this task.
Grading and Homework Policy
There will be a daily homework assignment written or oral. Each lesson should be reviewed by the student each night for at least 20 to 30 minutes to enhance learning and to be successful. Each assignment will be given a point value and will be checked the following class period.
Grades are based on a point system to be averaged and totaled from the following:
a. Class work - written and oral assignments. (35%)
b. Quizzes on lesson content both oral and written. ( 35%)
c. Class participation & Oral proficiency ( 30%)
Semester grades will also include:
Midterm and Final Exams. (Dates will be announced)
Final semester grades will include one or two term projects. (Except for French 1 first semester)
Details and dates will be announced. You will have ample time to do these both in class and as homework assignments.
Grade Scale: 100-90=A 89-80 =B 79-70=C 69- 60= D
Students who are not maintaining a C or better grade will be notified before the end of the grading period
It is the right of every student to learn and to perform to the best of his or her ability. I, as the teacher, will provide the environment and materials for learning and I will help my students be successful .
( I am usually available at lunch or after school for students who make an appointment with me.)
