LAST NIGHTS: Conversation with Chester Hartman, Estella Habal, Emil de Guzman, and Hilton Obenzinger

Friday November 19th, 2010
7pm-8pm
868 Kearny at the International Hotel, San Francisco CA

As part of the continuing LAST NIGHTS events in conjunction with the UNTIL TODAY exhibition, Chester Hartman, Estella Habal, Emil de Guzman, and Hilton Obenzinger will discuss their participation with the International Hotel during three time periods. From pre-1977 eviction to the pre-2005 rebuilding and even as collaborators on the research of the current project, publication, and exhibition (2008-2010), they will cover several topics publicly for the first time. They will examine the collective and individual trauma experienced by activists, as well as the local, national, and global housing conditions relevant to the I-Hotel’s past and future. This group will also talk about the Hotel’s historical placement in the Asian American Movement and the potential of the current site as a venue for cultural production as well as other functions in light of the Hotel’s complex history.
