One of the most in-demand college degrees employers look for is Communications & Marketing. That’s what my students learn in Computer Art, Web Design and Video.
The high school classes that were most useful in my pre-teaching career were similar to the ones I teach. This is an art class, but a lot of it is about communicating, working cooperatively with teammates, and meeting real deadlines to produce a finished product you can be proud of.
Computer Art students use graphic design to take on challenges and problems. How can you combine words and images to communicate ideas, to persuade, to tell stories.
My top requirement for students to be in my class is that they want to be here. I hope students will enjoy doing the work in this class. I hope it will open their eyes and make them more aware of art, design and media all around them. I hope it will inspire them to express themselves. And I hope it will help them grow a bit and become problem solvers and communicators.
