You will create a Face Animation. Your face will change expressions, look to the left and to the right, appear happy and then angry.
Two things to focus on in this assignment:
- Re-using Graphic Symbols BUT Only One Symbol per Layer
- Being Expressive (Communicating) with Simple Shapes and Lines
STEPS FOR FACE ANIMATION
- Leave the background layer blank. You will use it later for background.
- Create a new layer and name it “face.” Draw an oval shape for the head. Adjust the shape of the oval with the Subselection Tool (white arrow).
- Create a new layer and name it “eyeleft.” Use the oval tool to create a white oval with a stroke on it. Group it and place it in the library as a Graphic Symbol called “eye.” Then position the symbol where the left eye should be on the face.
- Create a new layer and name it “eyeright.” Drag the graphic symbol “eye” from the Library and place it where the right eye should be on the face.
- Now create a new layer called “pupilleft.” Use the oval tool to create a small circle (color of your choice). Group this new oval and drag it to the library as a graphic symbol named “pupil.” Position the pupil inside the left eye.
- Create a new layer named “pupilright.” Drag the graphic symbol “pupil” from the Library and place it inside the right eye.
- Now create a new layer named “mouth.” Use the Line Tool to create the mouth. Do NOT group the mouth. Do NOT save to the Library. You will be using Shape Tween on this layer. Mr. Machtay will demonstrate.
- Next create a new layer named “browleft” and create an eyebrow using the line tool. Do not place in library. This will not be a Symbol and will use Shape Tween.
- Create a new layer named “browright” and use the line tool to create a second eyebrow. Same as above.
- Now turn your attention to the bottom layer. Name this layer “BG” (for background) and create a scene. Where is your face located?
- And then make it more interesting. Add things. Hair? Antennae? A Hat? Shoulders? You’ll get extra credit if your animation “tells a story.”
