Enterprise for High School Students

Enterprise for High School Students (EHSS) will be starting the Spring Cycle of the Pathways Program in February.

If you are not yet familiar with this program, the Pathways Program is a  job readiness and career discovery program for 14-18 year-old high school students in San Francisco.
During the 10-week Spring Cycle of the Pathways Program, students will:

  • Apply for paying jobs within three weeks into the program
  • Receive training in job skills such as office, childcare, computer, event assistance, and customer service skills
  • Compile an employment portfolio (with a résumé, sample cover letter, reference sheet, etc.)
  • Explore colleges, careers and other post-high school options
  • Become eligible for our three summer employment programs  (Career Exploration Program, Junior Caddie Program, and Summer Gardening Program) for summer 2012

To participate in Pathways, students must attend an Information Session, where they will receive an application packet along with more detailed information about the program requirements.

You can view the Information Session dates on our calendar. Students can call us at 415.392.7600 ext. 1 to sign up for an Information Session.

If you can post an announcement in your school’s bulletin, here is a blurb:

Enterprise for High School Students will be launching the next cycle of the Pathways Program starting February 14, 2012! If you want to be trained in job skills and find paying jobs and internships, then attend any ONE of these Information Sessions at 4:30pm on 1/6, 1/10, 1/13, 1/17, 1/20, or 1/24. Call EHSS at 415.392.7600 ext. 1 or email us at info@ehss.org, and RSVP for an Information Session to learn more about the program and the application process.

Here is a Pathways Program flyer that you can print out and distribute to your students. If you cannot link to the flyer, please contact me and I can send you an attachment.

Thank you so much for your help, as we rely heavily on our school contacts for connecting us with great students over the years.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me should you have questions regarding the program.

Best,

2011-2012 After School Tutoring

Galileo has two afterschool tutoring programs. One is through the afterschool program, Futurama, and the other is sponsored by our ELD department. Both are open to all students and are on a drop-in basis.

Parents: if you would like verification that your student has gone to tutoring on a specific day, please have the student pick up a signature form in the tutoring room for their tutor to sign. This can verify their attendance.
