The question is how much can you add to this block. The question is how much can you add to this block. The question is how much can you add to this block.

2 does not apply

3 My favorite book from last semester was called “Tithe”. It was written by Holly Black. Tithe was mainly about a girl who discovered that she was truely a faery. When she was younger, she’d often talk to faeries, but her mom and friends would think that she’s just talking nonsense. One day, she can across a man in the middle of a grassland. He was severely injured. She saved him. As days grew, she knew more about her faery life and that her mother now is not her birth mother. She was switched with the real daughter. Roiben was the faery that he saved. She fell in love with him. There was a war between too faery courts, the Unseelie and the Seelie’s. Together, they worked as a team to stop the war and the courts are at peace for another 7 years. Roiben became king in one of the courts.

4 Title: Peach Girl
Author: Forgot
Date begun: forgot
Date ended: forgot

In the begining of peach girl, they describe how she looks & her life. She isn’t like all the other girls because she was very tan (skin tone). People always judge her by how she looks, they always think she is like a reallt “open” person. It talks about her crush, her “friend” & a new guy she meet at school. Her crush since middle school is Toji, she has been trying to get rid of her tan since her friend told her that Toji doesn’t like girls with dark skin tone. So she quits the swimming team. later she meets a guy at school that every girl in the school admires but she didn’t like him. They have all these funny things happening because of all their little fights & she’ll find out the true side of her so called “friend”, Sei.

5 Title: Bad Girlz Author:Shannon Holmes
Date started:? Date end: 01-21-07

Summary:
Tanya, a girl in her teen years was always being miss treated by her mother. One day she got badly injured and her mom told her to stay home, she got rapped by her mom’s boyfriend, she had been high from smoking with him, so she didn’t know what had happened. When her mother got back she smelled the odor of sex and abandoned her. That’s when her life started getting miserable, she looked for one of her relatives place to stay, but they had already heard from her mom what had happened. So they didn’t want her in their home. She lived in the streets for some time and became a prostitute to get money and a place to sleep at night. Then she found a guy that felt bad for using her and he had a cousin that was a stripper and got good money, she became a stripper and started making good money, she lived with kat, who got her the job, and with “Goldie”-Gloria, she needed a nick-name, she was then named Tender. Her life was going good with everything until they got into problems for killing a guy that had tryed killing them at first. (she was starting to get close to Gloria aswell, and started seeing that kat was actually a bad friend.) They had to move to Miami to “cool down” from all the drama that they were having. She found a guy that she really started to like. When they got back to their home town Gloria and Tania wanted to get out of the stripping buisness because they didn’t want anymore problems. But the police found out that Gloria had killed the guy because Kat had “ratted her out”. Well life changed for her after that nothing was ever the same. Except for the guy she met at Miami, she was still really happy she was with him. Until they had a “3-sum” with Kat. Then he started hanging out with her more. Goldie committed suicide and sent Tanya her very private diary she had been writting on her whole life, and she read it, after that she changed her life for the better, and Kat had gooten shot and died.

6 Carmotie high volume 7 this book is 1 of teh best graphic novels that i ever read.this volume talked a lot about the gorilla that is in carmotie high. in teh begining of teh book you see him in a sushi bar making sushi. teh sushi taht he makes is like 1 of the best sushi in teh world it was made perfectly. then when teh owner of the sushi bar came back he was shocked that there was a gorilla making sushi to his costomers. then the owner of the sushi bar hired the gorilla and the gorilla later learned about teh family issues if the owner and helps him solve tht problem to the family matter. then later teh owner opens uop a new sushi bar and gave it to teh gorilla and then the gorilla got sent to the animal shelter

7 Title: Sorceress of Faith
Author: Robin D. Owens
Date Begun: October 30, 2006
Date Finished: November 13, 2006
I think this book was awesome. I couldn’t stop reading it and I’m glad I bought it. It’s about a girl who gets transported into another world and she has to help the people of that land defeat a great evil. She goes through training to be a weather circlet. This book contains a lot of adventure, ation, and romance in it. It says taht there will be another book coming out in 2007, so I’m going to get that book too. I would recommend this to people who like stories like this.

8 title : spin control
author : nikki burnham
start date : october 11, 2006
end date : october 11, 006
summary: This book is about a girl named Valerie Winslow dating a prince whose name is Georg. The problem is that since he’s a prince, there are always tabloids gossiping about him and his business. When Valerie goes out in public with Georg, the tabloids start making up stuff thats not true aobut them so Valerie’s dad sends her off back to Virginia to visit her mnom for a while, while Georg’s dad and Valerie’s dad control the tabloid situation.Valerie’s friends hook her up with david, who she’s been crushing on since forever but realizes Georg’s the one for her. I guess I like this book because I like books that talk about relationships.

title:the sisterhood of the traveling pants
author : ann brashares
start date : december 8, 2006
end date : december 9, 2006
summary : This book is about four girls: Lena, Carmen, Tibby, and Bridget. Carmen had bought a pair of jeans at a thrift store and all four girls fit the pants. That summer, Tibby stayed home, Bridget went to soccer camp, Carmen went to visit her dad, and Lena went to Greece with her little sister. They sent the pants back and forth and made 10 rules about the pants, like you cant wash the pants, you have to it on when your turn is over, etc. towards the end of the book, they decided that no one wuld ever wear the pants until next summer.

9 new student: I loved reading Empress Orchid by Anchee Min because it tells the story in fiction from a perspective of Empress Dowager CiXi’s life and the hardships one endures in the palace. No matter how much money one has, one cannot have it all if you don’t strive. This is the lesson I recieved from the book and a lot more!

10 Vimpire Kiss
Ellen Schrelber
Start Date:10/4/06
End Date:10/6/06

This book was about this girl named Raven. She likes this vampire named alexander. The first time they met was halloween while trick or treating at his house. She was trying to stop this boy for ruining the house of Alexander. The boy that was ruining the house was named trever.. The bulter of Alexanders saw what was going on, then Alexander walked down and she saw him but she ran away–fast–

11 We didnt have one and Nancy was not here 1st semester!

12 ready sex & go #1
the book is about a girl named colette.she really likes this boy who goes swimming at the local pool where she goes to. so when the day comes that she has to talk to him she gets all scared and stuff. they start talking and they become a couple. the only thing is that they come from completely different worlds. then he tries to pressure her into having sex so she breaks up with him.

13 i like reading the outside shoot because it talk about the struggles of being in college and tryin to make the team

14 Title:Blood and Chocolate
Author:Annette Curtis Klause
Date Begun:10/11/06
Date Finished:10/17/06
This book is about a 16 year old girl who is a werewolf and so is her family. She falls in love with a human when she is not supposed to while the main character, Vivian and her family needs a leader. I really liked the book because it has a lot of suspense. I liked the story a lot and it had some action which made the book better. I would recommend the book to people that is interested in werewolves and romance.

15 Author: Walter Dean Myers
Title: It Ain’t All For Nothin’
Date Begun: 10.4.06
Date Finished: 10.11.06
Total Pages: 226

This book was interesting because the book was about Tippy living with his father, Lonnie because Grandma Carrie was getting old and weak. This book is good for the kids that has a father like this. You can’t stop them from doing bad things unless you did what Tippy did.

16 I didnt have Ms.Moffett last semester.

17 The Rookie Arrives By:Thomas J. Pygard
Ted Bill is a high school student that gets a shot at the major league baseball. He gets noticed by the Kansas City Royals. He plays 3rd base.He gets noticed at one of his games at Genoa High.He is an excellent baseball player. He gets to Chicago because the Royals are on the road.He gets ther and acts like a big shot. The regular 3rd baseman is Lou Mills.Lou Mills gets sick and Ted comes in and plays excellent.Lou comes back and plays till the all star game when he gets hurt.Ted comes in and plays and does a great job.Lou comes back after 4 months and plays for 1 week.Lou then gets traded and Ted is the new starting 3rd baseman.

18 Fleshmarket by Nicola Morgan
date begun: 10/4/06
date finished 11/24/06

Fleshmarket talks about a boy named Robbie who his mother died by surgery. This story is really dark, the setting takes place in the 19th century, Edinburgh (somewhere in scotland) Where Robbie holds a grudge against Dr.Knox (one of the doctors that perform the surgery on his mother). The story is sometimes brutal, and sometimes make the reader feel comfortable. After Robbie’s mother died, he has to work for both him, and his sister, His dad went somewhere and never came back, and they live in top of a flesh market. I give this a 4 because sometimes it kept me reading and sometimes it hit the bottom of boredom.

19 Battle Royale
Koushin Takami

I like this book a lot because it’s like a different world that is made up, but it sounds like it’s real. In this book, the government random 9th grade class each year to take them to a study trip. The study trip turned out to be on a desserted island and they have to kill each other util there is one survivor. Two students met another student that said he can help them escape the island. 39 students died on the island, some are willing to kill each other, and some died from not trusting each other.

20 i didnt have ms. Moffet last semester

21 I did not have Ms. Moffett last semester.

22 i didn’t have Ms.Moffett last semester!

23

24 in the book i read which is called black a 16yr old girl named kaia gets pregnant by her boyfriend Aaron. she decides to keep the baby but when her mom finds out she kicks her out of the house and she has to go live with her bouyfriend.for the next 9 months every thing went good until valintines day.

The purpose of Outside Reading is to encourage students to read. Reading is preparation for the mind: it’s creativity, it’s spirituality, it’s command of diction and grammatical concepts. Students who truly engage their minds’ needs with literature do so not only from an educational position, but also from an entertainment one.

The goal of the assignment is focused more on reading—and reading prolifically. Students will be required to constantly on their person have a book to read. Since students are expected to read for both academic and well as entertainment value, the selection of the text is entirely determined by each individual.

Each class of students is assigned a display board in our room for this program. Each display shows the names of all students in the class, number of books read, and reviews for books for all to see. Students are not in competition with one another, but the visibility of the number of books read will serve as a motivating symbol to those who need an extra push in the right direction.

Procedures/ Expectations:

Students will self-pace their own reading

Students who finish a novel are expected to write a brief analysis using one of the theoretical approaches of no more than a paragraph

Students will insert their summaries inside the book as soon as the book is finished. The book, with the analysis, is placed in the appropriate collection box. Students then wait for their check in conference with the teacher or librarian.

As soon as the finished book is place in the collection box, students should immediately have another book to read and shall fill out another card for their new book

During chec in conference, students will be called up one by one to have a quick verbal check in on books

Students are evaluated on their summaries as well as their ability to discuss their chosen books

Check ins will be conducted every block day for the first hour of class time

While check ins occur, students shall use that “quiet” time for reading

Students will be surveyed at the end of the semester online regarding the reading program

Students are expected to read a minimu of 9 novels for the semester (3 each grading period)

Time will be considered within the additional homework

MIGHT WANT TO POINT OUT HOW THE CAN SCREW UP - BY LYING ABOUT WHAT HAS READ, BY NOT HAVING BOOKS TO READ, BY ABANDONING TOO MANY BOOKS WITHOUT COMPLETING THEM
