Getting Help

When you’re feeling down, when is talking to a friend not enough? When do you need to get help from an adult?

* If you, or someone you know is thinking about suicide, tell a trusted adult right away. You can also call the SF Suicide Prevention Hotline @ 1-415-781-0500 or the California Youth Crisis Line @ 1-800-843-5200 or Call 911. You are not alone.

Tell an adult…

When you are feeling down for a long time. That is a clue to seek help. Or when you are getting in over your head.

Winnie, 11th Grader

When you feel like hurting yourself or someone else, or when you feel like there’s no point in living anymore.

Vicken, 10th Grader

If you have feelings of suicide.

Cheeseburger King, 12th Grader

I think if you’re facing a problem where you know an adult can help, or if you simply aren’t getting the answers that you need from your friends.

Lealoa, 11th Grader

If talking to a friend doesn’t make you feel better or if you are still stressed or frustrated, talk to an adult. If you start having overwhelming negative thoughts or even thoughts of suicide, talk to an adult. Talking is better than keeping it in.

Rosie, 11th Grader

When or if you feel that the topic you are stressed about requires help beyond what a friend can give.

Evontay, 11th Grader

If it’s a problem concerning classes, sometimes talking to an adult is a good thing because they can help you.

Wendy, 11th Grader
