Helping A Friend
How can I help a friend who’s feeling down? Every time I ask them if they want to talk about it, they say no.
Sometimes it’s best to give a friend time to see if they want to talk about it or figure it out on their own. If you’re worried about them, you can try pushing a little bit more, but if your efforts are in vain, talk to adult about it – maybe a Wellness Counselor.
Rosie, 11th Grader
My advice is to give your friend some space. Your friend will talk when the time is right.
Evontay, 11th Grader
Well, there isn’t much that you can do except to reassure your friend that you’re there. Forcing them will only make them feel worse. Maybe you can try telling them about a difficult situation that you have been through.
Wendy, 11th Grader
Give your friend the time that he or she needs. You can also refer them to places like the Wellness Center that are filled with support!
Winnie, 11th Grader
Tell your friend to write it out if they don’t want to talk about it. Writing is a good way to express yourself and it might get rid of some of the stress.
Vicken, 10th Grader
Try to cheer them up with jokes!
Cheeseburger King, 12th Grader
Maybe it’s best to let them come around and talk when they’re comfortable, or make suggestions about things that might make them feel a bit better.
