The Galileo Nutrition Outreach Worker (NOW) Program is a paid position for Galileo students! 4 to 8 students are hired each year to educate their peers about healthy snacking, healthful recipes, hydration, physical fitness, and more!


They hit the scene in 2011… surveying the Galileo student body to assess the nutritional haves, needs, and wants of teenagers. For example- Where do students get their lunches? What are healthiest options at the corner store? How can we encourage students to choose a Clif Bar over a bag of Hot Cheetos?


The NOWs occupied the Galileo courtyard, handing out free & organic fruit compliments of Harvest of the Month! “Vitamin C & Fiber” they shouted, educating their peers about the beneficial components of tangerines and strawberries…


They partnered with Sports Basement to distribute water bottles at Galileo for consistent hydration. “Drink Water!” they cried.

**Did you know that dehydration causes head aches & stomach aches??

They helped to solicit tea donations from Traditional Medicinals to promote healthy respiratory & immune systems. “Drink Tea!” they hollered.

In 2012, the newest group of Galileo Wellness Nutrition Outreach Workers are on a mission… Stay tuned to see their work in action!
